CET wins Best Employee Engagement Initiative

CET has won the award for Best Employee Engagement Initiative at the LV GI Claims Partner Awards, based on its investment in Mental Health Awareness over the last 12 months.

The award was announced at a ceremony on Thursday 5th March. CET won the award for its investment in its #LetsTalk campaign, which promotes mental health awareness and good mental wellbeing to it employees.

As part of the initiatives, CET implemented the following:

  • CET does #MHAW – During MHAW, the senior leadership team took on challenges to raise money for mental health charities. Challenges included shaving their head, swimming the equivalent of the English Channel and giving up alcohol.
  • Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs) – 20 MHFAs and Champions have been trained to recognise the early signs of mental ill-health, as well as provide support for colleagues in distress. Our MHFAs host regular drop-in sessions, as well as bookable appointments.
  • Time to Change Employer Pledge (T2CEP) – CET signed the T2CEP, committing to embedding mental health best-practice and awareness into all aspects of employee relations.
  • Therapy Dogs – Employees are regularly visited by Therapy Dogs Nationwide, giving them the opportunity to spend time with a trained therapy dog.
  • Wellbeing photo competitions – Colleagues can share how they ‘address their stress’ to win prizes. The competitions are held at peak times, encouraging employees to take regular breaks and share tips.

Speaking about the award, Head of HR Carolyn Cole said: “Delivering a great service means taking care of our people, so by inspiring trust and showing that everyone counts, CET has built an open culture that protects the mental health of its employees.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved over the last year, but I’m also excited for the future of mental health in our business. We’re determined to not stand still and are already starting to look at even more ways that we can promote good mental health in our workplaces.”

CET’s #Let’sTalk Campaign is part of its wider Wellbeing Strategy, which looks at way to promote good health across the business. Mental Health Awareness is also built into CET’s overall Environmental, Social and Governance programme, which commits the business to mental health charity fundraising each year during Mental Health Awareness Week. In 2019, CET raised over £10,000 for the Samaritans, Place2Be and The Lighthouse Club.

Carolyn continued: “We’re already planning our Mental Health Awareness Week 2020 initiatives and I’m excited to share our plans. I know that everyone taking part this year is already getting in full fundraising mode, so I have no doubt that we’ll be able to raise lots of money for the charities that we’re supporting this year.”
