CET does #MHAW - Jonathan's Challenge

For Mental Health Awareness Week 2019 (13th - 19th May), CET's senior management team is taking on challenges across our network to raise money for our three nominated challenges.

We're asking our employees and our clients to vote for their favourite challenges by donating £1 via our #MHAW Challenger's JustGiving page. Every £1 counts as 1 vote. The top six will take on their challenge across Mental Health Awareness Week and beyond.

Jonathan Brewer, CET's newly appointed Chief Digital Officer, shares with us how he want to use his skills to get people better connected, as well as more information on his nominated charity.

Challenge:

Digital Delivered

Location:

East Midlands

Why did you choose this challenge?

My world is digital, and we all know the importance of getting online in today’s world. For some, particularly in the older generation, getting online is tough. We can often forget how quick we have been to adopt digital technology, and in a world where online communication trumps any other form, it’s important that we stay connected with everyone in our lives.

I’ll be providing Digital Skills workshops for older people who may need help in getting connected to family and friends.

Communication plays a massive part in our mental health and making sure we can stay in touch with the people closest to us is a must. Families and friends are often spread far and wide, so my hope is that by running the workshops I can help those that attend to stay connected.

Which charity will you be supporting?

My votes will be donated to the Samaritans, who work tirelessly to ensure people feel that they have someone to talk to when they need it most. As well as support with suicide crisis, the Samaritans campaign to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, which we all know is a big issue for older generations.

What does taking part in raising awareness of Mental Health issues mean to you?

Although I’m new at CET, I’ve seen know how important mental health awareness is to the business. I would love the opportunity to use my skills to raise awareness and help to tackle some of the issues that we have in our community, as well as raise money for a fantastic cause.

To vote for Jonathan, visit his JustGiving page. Voting closes at 5pm on Tuesday 7th May.
