CET celebrates a magnificent eight during National Apprenticeship Week #NAW2021

CET is celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2021 by catching-up with some of its recent intake of apprentices to learn how they are each adjusting to their new role.

In the past two months, the UK claims solutions specialist has started no less than eight apprentices as it looks to invest in developing future talent within the company.

Yasmin, 18, explained what was particularly appealing about an apprenticeship rather than education or employment in a full-time capacity: “I prefer a more practical way of learning and I personally feel that I can offer a lot more than being in a classroom. Being able to learn while on the job is more beneficial to me and allows me to grow further than I could being taught in a different way."

Kiara, 17, added: ”I had been looking for an apprenticeship for a while and I was struggling to find one that I was interested in, when I came across the role with CET. I was really drawn to it as they pay great, you are learning new skills and we change departments every three months so will never be doing the same thing over and over again, which is fantastic.”

Kian, 17, is the newest of the apprenticeship recruits after joining CET on 4th January 2021.    “As I do not have a driving license, a big positive of working from home is that I can spend less time worrying about commuting to an office and I am able to spend more time focusing on my tasks” he said. “An office-based role would naturally lead to more verbal face-to-face communication with colleagues, however all this is now done virtually via video calls on Microsoft Teams, which I prefer anyway!”

Sahira, 18, commented: “What interested me about an apprenticeship with CET was the fact that we were able to go through the different departments within the company to experience the different roles that are on offer. Obviously at this stage of our careers we may not be 100% sure of what roles we would like to develop and doing it this way allows you to find what's right for you and what you enjoy the most.”

Daisy, 17, summed-up the appeal of apprenticeships: “I would 100% recommend them to anyone who doesn't enjoy being in a classroom environment and wants to be more hands-on, as an apprenticeship offers a salary, a qualification and a job which, as a combination, is highly attractive.”

Taking place from 8th and 14th February 2021, #NAW2021 encourages employers, employees and educators to consider how apprenticeships help individuals to build the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career.
