CET does #MHAW - Gary's Challenge

For Mental Health Awareness Week 2019 (13th - 19th May), CET's Senior Management Team are taking on challenges across our network to raise money for our three nominated challenges.

We're asking our employees and our clients to vote for their favourite challenges by donating £1 via our #MHAW Challenger's JustGiving page. Every £1 counts as 1 vote. The top six will take on their challenge across Mental Health Awareness Week and beyond.

Gary Corrigan, MD for CET's Infrastructure, tells us more about his challenge, his nominated charity and why he deserves your vote.

Breakfast/Lunch with the Boss

Harrietsham and Heathrow

Why did you choose this challenge?

We have over 100 people at Harrietsham, so making sure they start the day right with a bacon sandwich is going to be pretty challenging – but I thought I’d take it a step further. Once I’ve finished making breakfast for the Harrietsham guys, I’ll then be hopping into the van to make my way to Heathrow, battling with the M25 to make it in time to serve up some lunch.

Not wanting to make it easy, I’ve chosen to do my challenge on a Friday, which is notoriously busy for travelling the route that I’ll need to go!

Which charity will you be supporting?

My votes will be donated to The Lighthouse Club, which works with people working in the Construction Industry and their families. They offer financial and emotional support to people who have suffered an injury, have a long-terms illness or people that simply need a helping hand. They’re funded solely through donations, so hopefully people will dig deep to support this worthy cause.

What does taking part in raising awareness of Mental Health issues mean to you?

Mental Health is something that we don’t talk about enough and it’s fair to say that, particularly in the industry that we work in, we’re not the quickest to admit when we need help. By taking part I hope that people will see that we’re committed to promoting good Mental Health at all levels of our business, and that we’re all here if anyone needs to talk.
