From the 1st April 2022, CET have committed to being a Real Living Wage Employer as defined by the Living Wage Foundation. CET decided to make this commitment as the real Living Wage is the only UK rate that is based on the current cost of living, which we recognise has recently started to more significantly impact on all of our lives.
The Real Living Wage is voluntarily paid by over 9000 UK businesses and is based on calculations of the cost of living, carried out by the Living Wage Foundation.
Our commitment to the Living Wage Foundation means we will ensure that none of our staff are paid less than the Real Living Wage rate (see table below), and we will be going above and beyond that rate on completion of six months service.
So how does the Real Living Wage differ from the Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage?
The Real Living Wage rates are higher than the Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage rates because they are independently-calculated based on what people need to get by. We believe our people should earn a wage that meets the costs of living, not just the government minimum.
