Last year saw a sustained increase in the demand for our structural and pavement investigation services, along with continued demand for our materials testing and geotechnical services. In response, we opened a new geotechnical services office in the Midlands and a new materials testing laboratory to the west of London.
2017 already looks like being another busy year as we have secured a number of major infrastructure projects.
M1 Smart Motorway
CET have been awarded the structures package on the M1 junction 13 – 16 smart motorway scheme. We are deploying teams of inspectors to over 40 structures to carry out detailed structural integrity assessments.
We have also been offering support services on a major pavement investigation on the M1 motorway between junctions 13 and 16. The investigation comprises disciplines such as Ground Penetrating Radar, Deflectograph, Falling Weight Deflectometer surveying, carriageway coring, Dynamic Cone CBR profiling and associated laboratory testing. The works are currently ongoing from our Midlands operation.
M20/M23 Smart Motorway Improvement
In another major contract success, we have been commissioned to provide support services on pavement investigations on the M20 and M23 motorways. The scope of works is identical to that on the M1 project and will run from February through to the spring. The works are being mobilised from our southern operations in Kent.
