CET were recently awarded a contract for site investigation works by Morgan Sindall as a part of the ongoing Heathrow Airport development project. The scope of works includes pavement coring through the taxiway to allow access to the sub-pavement materials for investigation into the ground conditions beneath.
Specifically, we will be extracting cores using rotary techniques in order to access the unbound materials beneath the taxiway. The core holes are then extended to a depth of 3m using cable percussive techniques, from where we will gather site SPT data as well as taking samples for both laboratory testing and borehole logs.
This project had a short lead time and with CET being a member of the Heathrow Contractors ID Scheme, we were able to quickly organise and execute security passes for all airside personnel.
With an onsite duration of just 1 week it is essential that all tests are carried out efficiently and that results are made available as soon as possible, in order to avoid delays to this high-profile project. Once processed, site test results will be made available to Morgan Sindall instantly, via CET’s innovative online test results app: CETi®.
CETi® allows clients to monitor the progress of their tests in real-time and alerts them the moment their results are available. Results can be accessed from any connected device, via the web.
